Valrico
Bob Clearly the most recognizable voice in Tampa
Bay, Valrico Bob has been picked out by total strangers in super
markets. “Are you Valrico Bob?” The question would
stun him at first, but he has since gotten use to the notoriety. Valrico Bob came to Florida from his native
Staten Island, New York in 1979 and has been a mainstay on talk
radio. His calls usually “juice up” the phone lines.
He can stir things up in a hurry. Heard at first on the Paul Gonzalez
show in the early 80s, Valrico Bob has been a mainstay of Tedd
Webb when he hosts a talk show. Bob still calls Mark Larsen once
a week, and on occasions he is heard on other shows. Bob is a decorated Marine veteran of the Korean
War. He served in the 1st Marine Division, Dog Company, 5th Marines.
He earned The Purple Heart, Combat Action Ribbon, Korean Service
Medal and 3 Bronze Stars among others. He was wounded September
20th, 1951. Bob had lied about his age, and was serving in Korea
at age 17. There is no prouder American and no greater
patriot than Valrico Bob. He is almost 70 years old and would
still pick up a rifle to fight for his country. Valrico Bob and his wife Carol are dear friends
of the Tedd Webb family. They attended Tedd and Trudy’s
wedding in 1988 and have been regular visitors to each others
homes. “He is like my big brother” says Tedd. |
