Tom
Murphy Tom got the radio "bug" at the tender
age of five. He was asked if he was interested in Marconi and
thought his folks said macaroni. He still loves it to this day.
His first commercial radio job was at KKLS Rapid City, then on
to Jacksonville, in '74 to do afternoons at WAPE. Another job
was waiting at WLCY-FM Tampa where he awoke the Bay area at 5am.
The Northeast was calling and Tom went to his hometown to be "on
the air" at WRKO Boston. He then landed a news director position
with the CBS Radio Division/Boston. You've heard Tom for years
here in Jacksonville and he's also the "Image Voice"
for various stations throughout the country via TJ Murphy Productions. Tom Says... "The English language always
amazes me. How can a SLIM chance and FAT chance be the same? The
weather can be HOT as hell one day and COLD as hell the next.
If vegetarians eat vegetables should we stay clear of humanitarians?
And where ARE those people who ARE spring chickens?"
