Steve Overton

For the better part of 20 years, Steve Overton appeared on WFLA-TV, most notably his years as consumer investigator for the popular news feature “Eight on Your Side.”

Steve worked in his hometown of Charleston, S.C., in newspapers, radio and television before moving to Tampa in 1983 to join Channel Eight.

He is best remembered for his persistent problem-solving investigations into fraud and abuse by homebuilders, car dealers and repair shops, unlicensed handymen, swimming pool contractors, pest control firms, Medicare HMO’s, and moving and storage companies. The phrase "Eight on Your Side" grew to become the best known tag line in Bay area television, and the station adopted the name to promote its overall image.

Steve joined the financial services industry in 2000, and now works as an independent CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ in Tampa. He occasionally appears on local TV commenting on financial matters, and as an anchor and presenter for local government television.
