Marc Champion

In March 2005 Marc wrote us the following...

I'm beginning my 17th season as play-by-play voiceof the Detroit Lions. Also continue to call the action for Detroit Pistonsbasketball. Picking up an NBA championship ring last year was certainly a highlight of my career. I also have an NCAA championship ring from my days with Michigan State basketball. Still waiting for that Super Bowl ring.

It doesn't seem possible I've been gone from Tampa since 1989. It only seems like yesterday I loaded a u-haul and drove with my dad to the bay area in September of 1972. My career took me from WDAE to WFLA-TV back to WDAE and then on to WSUN and WRBQ. My career in Florida included working for the legendary Burl McCarty in the WDAE news department, hosting the nightly Sportsline talk show and for ten years, play-by-play voice of the Tampa Bay Bucs.

My career opportunities in Michigan have also included three Winter Olympics for CBS radio, the voice of the Walt Disney "What's Next" sports commercial, and just last year anchoring Westwood One's Ryder Cup broadcasts. My family has increased by one.

I remarried in August 2005. Oldest daughter, Nicole, had a baby boy in July 2004. I also have a daughter who graduated from high school June 2005 and an 11-year-oldson.
