Diane
Baskovich Thomas Known only as "Diane" when on the
air, Diane Baskovich, a beautiful Greek-Serbian mix from Clearwater
began relieving Tony Zappone in the afternoons doing traffic reports
on WFLA Radio in 1975. Not long after that, program director Rod
Weller asked if she liked to stay up late at night...and gave
her the midnight to 6 a.m. shift, spinning records on WFLA-AM
right after the up-and-coming Gary McHenry. Diane's soft and sexy voice became a popular
draw for the station at those odd hours, showing good numbers
in ratings and translating into additional income for the station.
Only months later, she was asked to do voice-overs for a number
of advertising clients and went on to do TV for the former Maas
Brothers Department Store and others. Diane got tired of driving back to her home
in Clearwater after being relieved by Jack Harris at 6a.m. each
day and left to pursue a career in music. She and her rock group
traveled the states as "The Gap Band," where she met
her husband Terry. She lives in north Florida with Terry, now
a minister, and her two daughters, Tiffany and Theresa.
