Where Are They Now?

Dennis Pavluk

Hailing from the Tampa Bay area of Florida via Cleveland, Ohio, for 970 WFLA anchor and reporter Dennis Pavluk, it's not "Where is he now," but "Where has he always been?" After leaving a suit and tie corporate job in 2004,

Dennis re-tooled his career, went to broadcasting school and came out interning at the now defunct Newsradio 1450 WSRQ in Sarasota. He got hired on part time and it all just took off from there. He did the news and was also a weekend rock jock on FM 105.9 The Buzz in Sarasota.

Then the move to Tampa came, first getting a part time gig doing traffic and picking up overnight news shifts and board op gigs running USF men’s basketball games on AM 1250 WHNZ.

Finally, all that work paid off and he got hired on as the nighttime anchor on Newsradio 970 WFLA where he's been for the last 4 years. Dennis can be heard mostly doing the 6:30p and 7p news on WFLA and all over the state doing news throughout the day on the Florida News Network as well as AM 540 WFLA in Orlando, FM 100.7 WFLA in Tallahassee, AM 1240 and 1350 WMMB in Melbourne and AM 1320 WDUV in Sarasota.

Dennis plays the drums on the side, most recently with the Deadliners media band playing along with traffic goddess Daisy Ash and St. Pete Times Media Columnist Eric Deggans. A lover of all things Rat Pack and Vegas, you can also catch Dennis singing with Tedd Webb and the Famunda All-Stars.
