Dennis
Clark The Big “Dee” as he was called
was a stranger to no one, at least not for long. He approached
Tedd Webb at a Nokia Mobira remote in 1997 and said ”I
want to get into radio!”. Tedd directed him to the office
of Interns, where most everyone gets their foot in the door nowadays.
It did not take long for Dennis Clark to make the most of this
opportunity.
Clark landed a job in the Promotions department
and before long was taking care of all the particulars. The Big
Dee could get you tickets to any show, and good seats I might
add.
Dennis got some on the air duties as well,
and was instrumental in the birth “Cigar Fest”, Ybor
City’s very own festival celebrating the cigar industry.
You could see Dennis in his white guallabera, and stogey in hand,
panama hat, just enjoying the event to it’s fullest.
Dennis was struck by a kidney ailment earlier
in life and needed a transplant. He received the organ and appeared
to be well on his way to a full recovery. Complications indicated
he would need another kidney, and it eventually claimed his life
in January of 1999.
Never had an individual been around for such
a short time, yet touched so many lives. He left behind a wife
and two adorable children, Dexter and Molly. |
