David
Sharp Born in Tampa, and a graduate of Chamberlain
High. But it was in Boone, NC, where I started my career at the
age of 13. This was in 1979 at WASU-FM (Appalachian State University),
and my first PD was none other than Greg Mull. Returned to Tampa in 1980....worked briefly
for WLPJ (then a pop/rock station), then moved on to WPLA, which
was my first job at a commercial radio station. Other stations
I've worked at: WLFF (afternoon drive), WEND (news anchor), WBVM
(presenter and sales), WRFA (presenter and sales), WLVU-FM (presenter
and sales), WBSB Dade City (Sales), WDCF/WZHR (operations manager),
WRFA/WZTM (presenter and producer for the sports format). While
at WDCF/WZHR, I also did weekends at Warm 94.9 FM. After WZTM, I moved over to WHNZ as a reporter,
then anchored the"Afternoon News Hour" for the remainder
of my tenure there. I won two AP awards in 1998: "Best Full
Length Newscast" and "Best Short Light Feature."
While at WHNZ (by now a Clear Channel property), I also did weekends
at 102.5 The Point and occasional news updates on WFJO. My last job in Tampa, was morning news anchor
at The Joy FM. Since 2000, I have been in Australia, doing stints
as production director and presenter at various stations in New
South Wales and Queensland. I've also done TV voice-overs for
the Seven and Ten Networks. Web Site: www.ddsradio.20m.com/index.html |
