Where Are They Now?

DJ Trauma

Former local radio personality, Deejay Trauma, dies suddenly in sleep after experiencing flu symptoms in January 2013.

St. Petersburg, Florida -- At WiLD 94.1 the music's still playing, but hearts are heavy as DJ's there mourn the loss of one of their own.

"I'm still just having a tough time with it," says Hugh Alexander/DJ COZ, tears streaming down his face. "He was a great guy."

Steven Seravalli, better known as Deejay Trauma, worked at WiLD for nearly ten years, where he mixed hip-hop and humor.

"He would walk in and make everyone laugh," recalls Program Director Orlando Davis.

After Trauma left for another radio job in Phoenix, he still kept in touch with his former co-workers. They are shocked by his sudden death over the weekend. After all, they'd all seen Trauma just a few weeks ago over the holidays. But he'd returned to Phoenix with what he thought was a bad case of the flu.

"He was really sick," says Davis. "He even sent pictures to his mother, because his throat was so sore and closing up." But Davis indicates Trauma was also using other medications and the Maricopa County Medical Examiner is planning an autopsy.

Even though Trauma last spun a record here five years ago, WiLD listeners remember him and today dozens messaged the station with kind thoughts for his co-workers and family.

On Tuesday night at Durty Nelly's in St. Petersburg, some of Trauma's DJ friends are planning a tribute.

Visitation and a Celebration of Life Service will be held at Brett Funeral Home in St. Petersburg on Jan. 22.

Just like the variety of tunes he served up, Deejay Trauma will be remembered for his own special mix of fun and friendship.

Coz expressed what so many seem to be feeling, "I loved him and I'll miss him and he's gone."
